Darbar Move: Government to return to Srinagar on May 2; work to commence on the 4th

After a six-month stay in Jammu, the State Government is now relocating to Srinagar. From May 4, the various departments of the State Government will commence operations from the Srinagar Secretariat. All departments will be shifted to Srinagar on May 2, during the Saturday holiday.

Departments in Jammu observing a five-day workweek will close on April 30, while offices with a six-day workweek will close on May 2. All departments will be permitted to relocate, with a staff strength limited to either 33 percent of their total employees or 10 officers. In this regard, M. Raju, Secretary of the General Administration Department, issued a notification on Wednesday.

The salaries for the month of April for all employees posted at the new offices will be released on the 29th. During the ‘Darbar Move’ period, employees will not be granted leave, except under extraordinary circumstances. The Estates Department will provide accommodation in Srinagar to the officers and employees relocating as part of the Darbar Move.

The State Government has requested the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) to make available an adequate number of buses in good condition, between May 1 and May 3.

Following the Darbar Move to Srinagar, the General Administration Department will establish a Summer Secretariat at the Civil Secretariat located in Jammu. All administrative departments shall select their staff from the subordinate offices of the Jammu Division on or before April 27.

The SSP (Security) of the Civil Secretariat shall retrieve the temporary identity cards from the attached staff and submit a report to the General Administration Department prior to the closure of the offices in Jammu.
