11 Security Personnel Injured in Two Separate Road Accidents in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: Eleven security personnel were injured in two separate road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian and Anantnag districts, officials said on Tuesday. Authorities have ruled out any foul play in both incidents.

The accidents involved personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

CRPF Bunker Vehicle Skids Off Road in Shopian

According to officials, a bunker vehicle carrying CRPF and police personnel skidded off the road in the Wachi area of Shopian district late Monday night.

The accident left seven CRPF personnel, including an Inspector, and one local police personnel injured. All the injured were shifted for medical treatment.

Three ITBP Personnel Injured in Anantnag

In a separate incident in Pahalgam, Anantnag district, a civilian pick-up van reportedly lost control and rammed into a temporary ITBP bunker.

The collision injured three ITBP personnel and the driver of the pick-up vehicle. Officials said preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was not linked to any security-related incident.

Another Road Accident Injures Amarnath Pilgrims

Earlier in the day, 39 Amarnath pilgrims were injured after a bus carrying devotees skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in the Hariganiwan area of Ganderbal district.

All the injured were admitted to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Health Minister Sakina Itoo visited the hospital and directed officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured.

Doctors said that while two pilgrims sustained head injuries, none of the injured was reported to be in critical condition.
