J&K Weather Update: Rain, Snowfall, and Strong Winds Alert from March 28th Night

Srinagar: The Meteorological Center, Srinagar, has predicted a change in weather in Jammu and Kashmir this weekend. Rain, snowfall, and strong winds are expected starting March 28th night.

According to officials, the weather will remain normal and dry until the evening of March 27th and 28th, but after that, light rain, snowfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected at many places. This could impact public life, travel, and agriculture.

March 29th to 31st: Clouds, Rain, and Strong Winds
The Meteorological Department stated that the sky will remain mostly cloudy across the region between March 29th and 31st. Light to moderate rain is expected in the plains and snowfall in the higher reaches.

During this period, strong winds with speeds of up to 40–50 kmph and thunderstorms are also possible. Moderate snowfall is also expected in some high-altitude areas.

Advice for Farmers and Travelers
In view of the weather, the administration has advised farmers to suspend agricultural work between March 26 and March 29 and 31 to avoid losses.

Travelers have also been advised to follow traffic advisories and travel with caution, especially in hilly areas.

Weather Improvement from April 1
The weather will be partly cloudy between April 1 and 4, but no major changes are expected.

Officials stated that the situation is being continuously monitored and updates will be issued as needed. Such weather changes are common in Jammu and Kashmir during this time due to western disturbances, which bring rain, snowfall, and strong winds.
