J&K Weather Update: Rain, Snow Likely for Three Days

Jammu and Kashmir: The Meteorological Department in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, has forecast unstable weather from Friday to Sunday, with the most severe impact expected on April 4th.

According to the Meteorological Department, “Light to moderate rain and snowfall are likely in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir from April 3rd to April 5th, 2026, with activity peaking on April 4th.”

Impact of Rain, Snow, and Strong Winds
Friday will be generally cloudy, with intermittent rain and snowfall expected in the higher reaches. Thunderstorms, hailstorms, and strong winds with speeds of up to 30-50 kmph are also possible, especially during the afternoon.

This trend will continue on April 4th, with moderate rain and snowfall expected in the Kashmir Valley and Jammu division. The weather may improve slightly on April 5th, with partly cloudy skies and light rain at some places.

Landslide Alert, Farmers Advice
The Meteorological Department has warned of landslides, mudslides, and rockfalls on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Farmers and gardeners have been advised to halt spraying and other agricultural work during April 3-4. Daytime temperatures may also drop during this period.

Temperature and Forecast
The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 11.2°C, 4°C in Gulmarg, and 6.2°C in Pahalgam. The maximum temperature in Jammu city was 19.8°C, 19°C in Katra, 13.5°C in Batote, 12.1°C in Banihal, and 10°C in Bhaderwah.

Water levels in rivers, lakes, and streams have improved due to substantial rain and snowfall in February and March. The Meteorological Department predicts another round of rain and snowfall between April 7 and 9.
