Vaishno Devi implements ban on tobacco products

The Katra administration has already banned the sale of liquor and meat in Katra and the surrounding areas.

Jammu and Kashmir: Good news has come for the devotees visiting Mata Vaishno Devi. The Katra administration has imposed a strict ban on the sale and consumption of tobacco, cigarettes and other tobacco products from Katra to Mata’s temple on the devotees going for the darshan of Mata. This ban has started from today.

For this, the administration has also issued a request that the shopkeepers who are selling tobacco or who have set up tobacco shops at Katra should immediately remove tobacco products from their shops, otherwise it will be confiscated by the administration and action will also be taken.

This decision of the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has been welcomed by the devotees. The main purpose of this decision is to maintain the sanctity of this religious place and to take care of the faith of the devotees.

The Katra administration has already banned the sale of liquor and meat in Katra and the surrounding areas. After which there is no liquor shop, compound or meat shop anywhere in Katra and its surroundings. Now the administration has also banned the consumption, purchase and sale of tobacco and cigarettes.

The administration has also made a provision of strict fine and punishment for selling and drinking tobacco and cigarettes in Katra and its surroundings. Under which drinking or selling cigarettes in Katra will also be considered a punishable offense.

More than 30 thousand devotees reach Katra from every corner of the country daily for the darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi. The purpose of which is to keep Katra base camp, travel route, and the entire area tobacco free.
