Jodhpur: The cleaning of Jodhpur’s historic Gulab Sagar Bachcha Canal has commenced. In connection with this initiative, Jodhpur District Collector Alok Ranjan accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Rahul Jain and a team of administrative officials, arrived at the site on Tuesday morning. Taking the lead personally, the Collector and the Commissioner initiated the cleaning drive; they also participated in ‘Shramdaan’ (voluntary labour) at Gulab Sagar. During this effort, other administrative officers present at the scene also lent a helping hand.

BJP Leaders and the General Public Join In
It is worth noting that there has been a long-standing demand for the restoration and beautification of the Gulab Sagar Bachcha Canal. Consequently, when the District Collector and the Municipal Commissioner arrived this morning, the cleaning work which had been long overdue finally began. The canal had been choked with accumulated waste and plastic bags for a considerable period. The effort saw the participation of various individuals, ranging from City MLA Atul Bhansali and BJP leader Hari Singh Panwar to members of the general public.
