Terrorist hideout destroyed in Satharban
Security forces have intensified anti-terrorism operations in Rajouri and Poonch districts. These operations are targeting local hideouts, foiling infiltration attempts, and searching for groups of foreign terrorists.
In an operation conducted on Tuesday, joint security forces busted a terrorist hideout in Satharban. The operation involved the Romeo Force of the Rashtriya Rifles and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
During the joint operation, a hideout was discovered in a natural cave in the Satharban area of Surankote in Poonch, from where weapons and ammunition were recovered.
Operations against terrorists intensified in Rajouri-Poonch
Earlier this year, the Army killed two suspected suicide bombers of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Khari Karmara sector of Poonch.
Operation Sherwali, conducted in May-June 2026, involved joint security forces conducting cordon and search operations (CASOs) for several days. These operations targeted groups of foreign terrorists operating in the dense forests of Dorimal-Gambhir Mughala in Manjakot, Rajouri, and Surankote in Poonch.
Operations were carried out at several locations in September and are continuing in October.
Joint teams of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Border Security Force (BSF) are active in sensitive areas including Pir Khana, Potha Narota, and Kalakot in Rajouri, as well as in the Mendhar and Surankot sectors of Poonch.
Search for foreign terrorists in several districts
Continuous counter-terrorism operations are being carried out in the densely forested areas of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Kathua, Ramban, and Udhampur following reports of movement of Pakistani terrorists.
Para Commandos and other special forces are also being deployed in these operations. These forces are trained to operate in dense forests and inaccessible mountainous terrain.
