JPSC-JSSC candidates will surround CM Hemant Soren’s residence on August 20th

Candidates protesting against alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations have announced to surround Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s official residence on August 20th. On Saturday, the protesting students also took out a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ to press their demands.

The protest entered its 22nd day on Saturday. Students say they have been peacefully presenting their demands to the government, but have not seen any concrete action.

Demand for cancellation of JSSC-CGL exam

JPSC-JSSC Reforms Forum spokesperson Piyush Singh said that the students’ main demand is to cancel the JSSC-CGL exam and conduct a CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities.

They said that if the government does not heed their demands, the students will march to the Chief Minister’s residence on August 20 and protest there until their demands are met.

Students Demand Accountability

Manch leader Ravindra Paswan said that accountability must be fixed for the alleged examination scams and irregularities. He also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Paswan said that the JMM and Congress are politicizing the student issue. He also appealed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that if the Chief Minister does not listen to them, the Congress should withdraw support from the JMM-led coalition government.

Demand for a CBI or outside judge investigation

The protesting candidates are demanding a CBI investigation or a committee of retired judges from outside Jharkhand to investigate the alleged irregularities.

Student leaders say that an independent investigation is necessary to ensure transparency and accountability in the examination process.
