Kabaddi player Tejpal Singh shot dead: Postmortem today after arrest of two accused

The postmortem of Kabaddi player Tejpal Singh will be conducted today, 72 hours after his death in Ludhiana, Punjab. Tejpal was shot dead near the SSP office on Friday afternoon (October 31). His body has been kept in a freezer at the crematorium on Sherpur Road since then.

The reason for this is that the family refused to allow a postmortem or cremation until the accused were arrested. When the police arrested two accused on Sunday afternoon, the family’s stance softened. Only after police officers persuaded them and assured them that the other accused would be arrested soon did the family agree to the postmortem.

According to the police, Tejpal’s body will be brought to Civil Hospital, Jagraon, today, where the postmortem will be conducted and the body will be handed over to the family. Meanwhile, the family has also expressed their desire to cremate Tejpal on Tuesday.

If the family wishes, a medical board will be formed to conduct the postmortem.

The police have informed the SMO of the Civil Hospital about this. All preparations have been made for Tejpal’s postmortem at the Civil Hospital. SMO Dr. Gurvinder Kaur stated that the family has not yet requested that a medical board conduct the postmortem. If the family wishes, a medical board will be formed on the spot and the postmortem will be conducted.

Police Register Case Against 12 People
On the complaint of Tejpal’s father, the police have registered a case against Honey, Kala, Gagan, and 8-9 unidentified individuals. Three teams have been formed to apprehend the accused: one team of the DSP, the second team of the Civil Service staff, and the third team of the police station.
