Kanpur Businessman Murder: Crorepati Businessman Allegedly Killed on Daughter-in-Law’s Instructions Over Financial Control

Kanpur: In a shocking development in the murder of 63-year-old medicine businessman Vineet Minocha, police have detained his 30-year-old daughter-in-law Shalu after the arrested domestic help allegedly confessed to carrying out the killing on her instructions.

Daughter-in-Law Allegedly Confesses to Crime

According to police, Shalu initially attempted to mislead investigators but later allegedly confessed during questioning. She reportedly told police that despite being part of a wealthy family, her father-in-law exercised complete control over her and her husband’s expenses.

She allegedly claimed that they received a fixed amount every month and had to ask Vineet for money even for small expenses. Police said she subsequently decided to eliminate him and allegedly offered a contract to the domestic help, Vishal, 30.

Police Probe Calls Between Shalu and Vishal

Police have obtained Shalu’s call detail records and are examining how frequently she and Vishal spoke on the day of the murder. Investigators are also probing whether her husband, Subrat, had any role in the crime. He has reportedly been kept at the police station for questioning.

The murder took place in the early hours of Sunday at Vineet Minocha’s flat in Ratan Orbit Apartment in Kalyanpur, one of Kanpur’s upscale areas. Vineet was alone at the time of the incident, while his son and daughter-in-law had gone to a party.

When they returned around 3 a.m., they allegedly found Vineet’s blood-soaked body in his bedroom and informed the police.

CCTV Footage Leads Police to Suspects

During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the apartment complex and allegedly spotted domestic help Vishal and his associate Raj Kishore, 30, leaving the premises.

Police later arrested both men in an encounter late Sunday night. When media personnel questioned Vishal about the reason for the murder, he allegedly said that he had killed the businessman at the behest of Shalu and was promised money for the act.

His statement reportedly led investigators to Shalu, who was subsequently taken to the police station for questioning.

Security Guard Recalls Vishal’s Entry

Madan, the security in-charge at Ratan Orbit Apartment, told police that Vishal Gautam had arrived at the complex with his associate Raj Kishore on the day of the murder.

According to Madan, Vishal sought permission to enter flat number C-104. When the security staff refused, he allegedly spoke to Shalu over the phone. She reportedly told the security guard to allow them inside, saying they had come to deliver medicines.

Shortly afterwards, Vineet’s son Subrat and daughter-in-law Shalu left the apartment with their son, leaving Vineet alone inside.

When the couple returned around 3 a.m., they allegedly discovered Vineet’s body inside the flat and called the police. Officers found the businessman lying in a pool of blood, with blood reportedly spread across the room.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder, which is believed to have taken place between around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3 a.m. on Sunday.
