Kapurthala shaken by gunfire, ransom demands from big traders continue

The incident of firing in Kapurthala (Punjab) has once again created an atmosphere of terror in the area. The trend of demanding ransom by targeting big traders continues. According to information, this incident took place late at night.

Unknown miscreants fired 5 bullets at the private godown of a big wholesale grocery trader located on Sultanpur Lodhi Road at around 1:30 am. Out of these, two bullets hit the gate of the godown, while three bullets hit the shutter. The continuous firing spread panic in the area.

Ransom call came immediately after the firing

Some time after the firing, the trader received a WhatsApp call from a foreign number, in which a ransom of lakhs of rupees was demanded. They also threatened to cause further damage if the ransom was not paid.

The trader immediately informed the police. Senior police officials who reached the spot have started investigation. The police are examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity so that the culprits can be identified.

Currently, the process of registering a case against the unknown miscreants is underway. Such incidents in Kapurthala have raised serious questions about the safety of traders.
