Islamabad, April 5: Several key roads in Karachi were shut on Sunday as authorities prepared for a protest called by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The demonstration is aimed at highlighting public anger over rising inflation and the recent fuel price hike. Police presence was increased across the city, especially in sensitive areas, to prevent any untoward incidents. Barricades were placed at major junctions, and traffic was diverted, causing inconvenience to commuters.
The protest comes at a time when people are already struggling with the rising cost of living. The recent increase in fuel prices has added to the burden, making daily expenses even harder to manage for many families. PTI leaders have been vocal in criticizing the government saying the price hike has hit common citizens the hardest.
Authorities said the restrictions were necessary to maintain law and order. However, the road closures led to traffic jams in several parts of the city, with many residents facing delays in reaching their destinations.
With protests gaining momentum, political tensions in Pakistan appear to be rising. Opposition leaders are using the issue to mobilize support, while the government faces increasing pressure to address the economic concerns.
