Karan Johar Marks 25 Years as Host, Shares Stage with SRK at 70th Filmfare Awards

Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar marked a milestone moment at the 70th Filmfare Awards, celebrating 25 years as a stage host while sharing the spotlight with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Taking to Instagram, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director shared a behind-the-scenes video of their rehearsal sessions, giving fans a glimpse into his camaraderie with the “King of Bollywood.”

“Hosted it with the one and only KING @iamsrk… This is my 25th year as a stage host. I began my hosting career 25 years ago with @filmfare and here I am again,” Karan wrote, thanking Gujarat Tourism for its support to the film industry.

‘Filmfare Is Not Just Recognition, It’s an Emotion’

Expressing gratitude for receiving another Black Lady, Karan said he was humbled to be honoured among the Cine Icons Through the Decades.

“I’m proud to have won my 7th Filmfare Award last night with @iamsrk and @kajol… it was an indelible moment,” he wrote in another post.

The Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham filmmaker also reminisced about the night he won his first Filmfare Award in 1999, calling it a deeply emotional experience.

“It was a very competitive year. I remember sitting with my father, Yash Johar, very stressed, and he told me, ‘Beta, chant the Gayatri Mantra 11 times and you might just get this award.’ That moment stays with me forever,” Karan shared.

A 25-Year Journey with Filmfare

Johar, who began hosting the Filmfare Awards in 1999, has since become one of Bollywood’s most celebrated hosts and filmmakers. His return to the stage alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol made the 70th Filmfare Awards a night of nostalgia and celebration — a fitting tribute to his silver jubilee as a host.
