Kareena Kapoor Says Motherhood Made Her a Better Actor

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has opened up about how motherhood has influenced her acting, saying she feels she has become a better actor since becoming a mother.

The actress was speaking at the trailer launch of her upcoming film ‘Daayra’, where she discussed the emotional sensitivity involved in portraying her character and performing intense scenes involving a mother and her child.

Talking about her character Ajooni, written by filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, Kareena said the role had stayed with her and given her a new perspective on life.

“Daayra is one such film. It always stays with you. And certain parts, I just feel like the part, like Ajooni, what Meghna has written has given me more Darja in my life,” Kareena said.

She added that playing the character had affected her both as an actor and as a mother.

“I feel ever since I have become a mother, I have also become a better actor. I don’t know why,” the actress said.

‘Daayra’ explores justice and its aftermath

The makers of ‘Daayra’ unveiled the film’s trailer on Monday at an event. The trailer gives a glimpse into an intense story in which the two lead characters, played by Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran, find themselves on opposite sides of a debate over justice.

The film also features Jitendra Joshi, Kshitee Jog, Kanwaljeet Singh, Sandeep Kulkarni and Trupti Khamkar in key roles.

Inspired by true events, Daayra follows the aftermath of a crime that sparks widespread outrage across the country and explores questions surrounding justice and its consequences.

Meghna Gulzar directorial to release in September

The film is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar and produced by Junglee Pictures and Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios.

‘Daayra’ is scheduled to release in theatres on September 18, 2026.
