KASHMIR ISSUE AGAIN AT UN

Pakistan has a habit of trying to wriggle out of its financial or political difficulties by blaming India. The point is to save its own position. No matter how economically devastated Pakistan becomes, even as it continues to worsen its problems by engaging in a war with Afghanistan, it still persists in raising the Kashmir issue on international platforms.

On Friday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif once again did the same thing at the United Nations General Assembly. He spoke on the Iran war and Palestine, but his lamentations about the Kashmir dispute and India’s cancellation of the Indus Water Treaty were particularly pronounced.

Threatening India, Sharif said that withholding water from India would be considered an act of war and that the issue could lead to major tensions in South Asia. India’s First Secretary at the United Nations, Petal Gahlot, responded by holding a mirror to Pakistan. She stated that Kashmir is an integral and inseparable part of India.
