Kejriwal Announces Grand Sita-Luv Kush Temple, Expands Punjab’s Pilgrimage Scheme

Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced several religious and cultural initiatives in Punjab. These include the construction of a grand temple dedicated to Sita, Luv, and Kush in Amritsar, the expansion of the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, the staging of the play Humare Ram across the state, and the holding of Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shivji Ke Naam programs in all 22 districts.

Kejriwal made these announcements after participating in the Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shivji Ke Naam program in Amritsar with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said that following the enthusiastic response to the first program held in Jalandhar, it will now be organized in all districts of Punjab to promote devotion and social unity among the people.

He said that a grand temple dedicated to Sita and Luv and Kush, sons of Lord Ram, will be built near the Lord Valmiki Temple in Amritsar. Kejriwal said that Amritsar is believed to have a deep connection with the Ramayana, as it is believed that Maharishi Valmiki composed the Ramayana here and that Mother Sita gave birth to Luv and Kush here.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the Punjab government will preserve this historical and religious heritage by building this temple. He said that Amritsar has always been a symbol of faith and brotherhood for people of all religions.

Kejriwal also announced the expansion of the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme. Under this, new travel services will be launched for Salasar, Khatu Shyam Ji, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mathura, and Vrindavan. He said that these services will begin around August 1st and approximately 1.5 lakh devotees will be able to avail of them. The state government will bear the entire cost of travel, accommodation, and food.

He also informed that the redevelopment work of the Kali Mata Temple in Patiala is underway at a cost of approximately ₹80 crore, and is targeted to be completed by September.

As part of cultural activities, Kejriwal announced that the play “Humare Ram” will be staged free of charge across Punjab starting August 1st. This play is a unique rendition of the Ramayana, depicting several events from the perspectives of Luv and Kush, along with dialogues between Lord Rama and Ravana.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that it is the government’s responsibility to respect public faith and religious traditions, and these initiatives are being taken towards this end.

It is noteworthy that the Punjab Cabinet has already approved 40 free performances of “Humare Ram,” starring actor Ashutosh Rana. The play presents events from the Ramayana that have rarely been depicted before.
