Kejriwal Raises Questions Over Transfer of Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has transferred Amritsar Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, appointing Harmanbir Singh Gill as the new Commissioner of Police, Amritsar.

The transfer has triggered a political reaction, with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) questioning the timing of the administrative reshuffle.

In a statement, the CJP noted that Bhullar had recently announced the busting of an alleged ISI-backed terror module and had claimed that members linked to the module had reached Jantar Mantar during a CJP protest.

Referring to the transfer, the party said that although it has been described as an administrative decision, the timing has raised questions. The CJP asked whether political considerations were being given priority over national security and anti-terror operations.

The party also questioned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Punjab government over the decision and sought an explanation for the transfer.

The Punjab government has not issued any statement linking the transfer to the recent terror investigation, and no official reason beyond the administrative order has been announced.
