Bomb threat at Kerala CM’s residence turns out to be fake, police report after security check

Thiruvananthapuram: Security checks were conducted on Monday at Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s official residence, ‘Cliff House’, and a private bank in Palayam, following an email claiming that bombs have been planted at both places. Police later confirmed that the threat was completely fake.

Email threat, immediate investigation launched

The Chief Minister’s private secretary received a threatening email on Monday morning, putting the police and security agencies on alert.

A dog squad and a bomb detection team were immediately sent to the spot and a thorough search of the entire premises was conducted.

Police: “The threat is false, but precautions are always necessary”

After investigation, police officials determined that the information given in the email was false and no explosive material was found.

According to the police, similar emails have been received several times in the past, with the sender often referring to political events and matters in Tamil Nadu.

Emails sent via dark web

The police said the emails were sent via dark web-based applications, which made it difficult to identify the sender.

Despite this, thorough security checks are carried out every time to prevent any potential threats.

Chief Minister on a foreign trip

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was not in India at the time of the incident.

He arrived in Dubai on Sunday and is on a three-day official visit.
