Ketan Agarwal Murder Case Takes New Turn as Siya’s Lawyer Sends ₹10 Crore Defamation Notice to Brother

Pune: A fresh legal dispute has emerged in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, with Advocate Ashutosh Srivastava, who claims to be representing accused Siya Goyal, issuing a legal notice seeking ₹10 crore in damages from her brother, Sahil Goyal, over alleged defamatory statements.

According to the notice, Srivastava said Siya Goyal had formally appointed him as her legal counsel through a duly executed vakalatnama (authorisation letter), which has already been filed before the competent court.

Lawyer Claims Valid Court Authorisation

The legal notice states that Srivastava’s appointment was based on a signed vakalatnama and was neither an oral claim nor an unauthorised assertion.

It further claimed that the vakalatnama has been accepted and placed on record before the Vadgaon Maval Court and that additional signed documents would be produced before the appropriate legal forum if required.

Srivastava alleged that Sahil Goyal made false and defamatory public statements questioning his authority to represent Siya without verifying the court records or contacting him.

₹10 Crore Defamation Notice Issued

The notice alleged that Sahil’s statements damaged Srivastava’s professional reputation and subjected him to trolling, threats, hostile phone calls and public embarrassment.

It demanded that Sahil immediately withdraw the alleged defamatory remarks, issue a public apology and provide a written undertaking not to repeat such statements.

The notice warned that if no satisfactory response is received within the stipulated time, civil proceedings seeking ₹10 crore in damages for alleged defamation and reputational loss would be initiated.

How the Dispute Began

The controversy surfaced ahead of a court hearing on Monday when Sahil Goyal publicly questioned Srivastava’s authority to represent his sister.

Speaking to the media, Sahil claimed that the family had neither appointed nor authorised Srivastava and alleged that Siya’s signature may have been obtained “by deceit.”

He maintained that Advocate Vipul Dushing had been engaged by the family and said an affidavit had already been filed before the court regarding the issue. Sahil also alleged that Srivastava had threatened the family.

The latest controversy adds a new legal dimension to the ongoing Ketan Agarwal murder case. While Advocate Ashutosh Srivastava maintains that he is the duly authorised counsel for accused Siya Goyal, her brother Sahil Goyal has disputed the claim.
