Key Issues to be Discussed in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Budget Session Today

Shimla: Several important issues are set to be discussed in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly’s Budget Session today.

The most prominent issue is the proposed lift project at the Naina Devi Temple. BJP MLA Randhir Sharma has raised this issue. Plans were made to install lifts at the temple for the convenience of the elderly and disabled, but work is currently stalled, which could lead to a heated debate in the House.

Furthermore, the issue of the carrying capacity of tourist destinations in the Kullu-Manali region—Jibhi Valley, Sainj, Shangarh, Gadsa, and the Great Himalayan National Park—will also be discussed. Heavy rains and cloudbursts during the monsoon season over the past three years have caused damage to these areas. Banjar MLA Surendra Shourie has raised questions on this.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Shahpur, Kewal Singh Pathania, will raise the issue of the scrap policy. Rohru MLA Mohan Lal Brakta has sought details of the funds received under the Jal Jeevan Mission and its expenditure.

Today’s session is likely to be stormy, in which the government may have to answer on important issues related to development, tourism and infrastructure.
