KFC under scrutiny in Mangaluru, expired meat recovered from Mysuru hotels

Food safety officials conducted an inspection at the KFC outlet in City Centre Mall in Mangaluru, Karnataka, following a customer complaint. The customer complained of a foul-smelling and spoiled chicken ordered online.

Following the complaint, officials inspected the outlet’s kitchen, storage area, and cold room.

KFC warehouse sealed, samples sent for testing

During the investigation, officials sealed the KFC warehouse and took food samples and sent them for lab testing. According to officials, further action will be decided after the test report is received.

Expired meat seized from Mysuru hotels

The Food Safety Department also conducted raids and inspections at several hotels in Mysuru. 9 kg of expired chicken was seized from the Rio Meridien Hotel and 68 kg of meat was seized from the Grand Mercure Hotel.

In addition, officials also recovered approximately 4 kg of mushrooms from a Q Star Hotel.

Food safety inspections intensified in Karnataka

Food safety inspections against hotels, restaurants, and other food establishments in Karnataka have been intensified. Officials are checking expiration dates, food handling, storage, and hygiene regulations.

Based on the sample reports collected during inspections, action may be taken against the establishments if violations are found.
