Khalistan group KLA claims Jalandhar BSF HQ blast as revenge for Ranjit Singh encounter

Jalandhar: An explosion occurred in front of the BSF headquarters in Jalandhar at around 7:57 pm on Tuesday night. Initial information suggests the use of an improvised explosive device (IED). Fortunately, no one was injured in the blast. The incident occurred near PAP Chowk, where a suspicious young man walked by, placed a package wrapped in polythene near an Activa machine parked on the sidewalk, and fled. A few seconds later, a powerful explosion occurred.

Khalistani organization claims responsibility, police not confirmed
The Khalistan Liberation Army (KLA) claimed responsibility for the incident through a social media post. The post also threatened to target DIG Sandeep Goyal and his family. However, the police have not yet confirmed this claim and the investigation is ongoing.

Forensic investigation underway, youth detained
Agencies have recovered fragments of the bomb from the scene. The Activa near which the explosion occurred is believed to belong to former BSF soldier Kashmir Singh. His son, Gurpreet Singh, a courier, was handling parcels inside the BSF headquarters at the time. Police have detained him and begun questioning him. Gurpreet said he had come to collect a parcel and had no connection to the blast.

Police Commissioner’s Statement
According to Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur, the scooter exploded after catching fire. She said two youths riding the scooter have been detained, and forensic teams are investigating.

Grenade attack outside Army camp in Amritsar

On the same night, a grenade attack occurred outside Gate No. 5 and 6 of Khasa Army Camp in Amritsar at around 11 pm. Two masked attackers on a bike threw the explosives towards the camp. The blast damaged a tin shed and a wall, but no injuries were reported.

Security agencies have become vigilant after both incidents. The investigation is also looking into whether this could be a sleeper cell conspiracy. Agencies believe a crowded area was targeted, but no buses were parked there at the time, averting a major tragedy.

Gurpreet’s father, Kashmir Singh, stated that his son is innocent and cannot go against the country because he is the son of a soldier. He also expressed concern over not being allowed to meet his son.
