Amritpal Singh, a recently elected Member of Parliament who is detained under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) contended that his right to liberty and life has been completely taken away unusual and cruel way. Not only invoking preventive detention law against him for more than a year but also detaining him 2,600 km away Dibrugarh (Assam) from his home state, Punjab.

The plea stated that the Pujab Government has Impose NSA against him on social media posts uploaded by different persons globally, which have hardly any practical impact in the state and possibly the security of the State of India cannot be so fragile as to be impacted by social media posts

MP Amritpal Singh Challenging entire NSA proceeding as well as his preventive detention in Punjab  And Haryana High Court. Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal was arrested in April 2023. Punjab government impose National Security act against him and lodged in Dibrugarh Jail, Assam. He had file nomination for Loksabha Election-2024 From Dibrugarh jail and contested the election from Khadur Sahib parliamentary seat. He won the election with huge margin and took oath in the chamber of Loksabha Speaker on July, 5.
