Khanna Police Gets Relief: Now Will Get Weekly Leave

Khanna : There’s good news for police personnel in Khanna. The district police has implemented a policy of providing employees with one day of weekly leave. Despite staff shortages, SSP Darpan Ahluwalia has taken this step to improve the mental and physical health of police personnel.

SSP’s Instructions and Roster System
The SSP has issued orders under Section 22 of the Police Act, 1861. SHOs of all eight police stations in the district have been instructed to prepare weekly rosters. Station House Officers have also been asked to prepare duty charts for their staff so that work is not affected.

Emergency Duty Mandatory
This weekly leave will not be considered a regular holiday. Police personnel will be required to remain at their place of deployment and can be called back to duty immediately in case of any emergency.

Decision despite staff shortage
Over 700 police personnel are deployed in Khanna, while the police stations employ approximately 200 personnel. The SSP acknowledged that working with a reduced staff is challenging, but it is important to prioritize the well-being of employees.

Why is this change necessary
Continuous and long hours of duty prevent police personnel from focusing on their families and health. This can lead to irritability and decreased efficiency. Keeping this in mind, this initiative has been taken to ensure better mental balance and family life for police officers.

Backup arrangements also in place
According to the order, on days when the SHO is on leave, the Additional SHO or other officer will take over his duties, ensuring no impact on law and order.
