Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan 2025: Torch relay lit from Sangrur, famous players participated

The Punjab Government today launched the torch relay of “Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan-2025” from War Heroes Stadium, Sangrur. The relay was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Rishi. A large number of players and common people were present on the occasion. During the relay, international players Paramjit Kaur (handball), Gursewak Singh Cheema and Dakshinu Singh (roller skating), Harshdeep Kaur (weightlifting) and other state level players took the torch with them and toured the entire city.

Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Rishi said that the opening ceremony of these games will be held in Hoshiarpur on August 29, 2025. This torch relay will pass through all the districts of the state and will end in Hoshiarpur on August 29. The schedule for organizing block, district and state level games under these games has been released. These games will be organized in sports stadiums of various villages, towns and cities of the state from September 3 to November 23, 2025.

It is worth mentioning that like previous years, this time also about 5 lakh players will participate in the race for medals in 9 age groups of more than 37 sports. Cash prizes worth more than Rs 9 crore will be distributed to the winners. It is worth mentioning that last year in Punjab Games, sports like athletics, badminton, and powerlifting were also included in the para category.

Releasing details of the route plan, he said that this relay will start from Sangrur, Barnala and Mansa on August 20, Bathinda and Sri Muktsar Sahib on August 21, Fazilka and Faridkot on August 22, Ferozepur and Tarn Taran on August 23, Sri Amritsar Sahib and Gurdaspur on August 24, Pathankot, Kapurthala and Jalandhar on August 25, Moga and Ludhiana on August 26, Malerkotla, Patiala and Sri Fatehgarh Sahib on August 27, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar and Rupnagar on August 28 and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar on August 29 and end at Hoshiarpur.
