    6 killed in car-bus collision in Karnataka

    Yadgir (Karnataka): Six people lost their lives in a massive fire that broke out after a head-on collision between a car and a private bus in Yadgir district of Karnataka on Friday.

    6 people burned alive, two injured
    Six people in the car were burned alive, while two others were rescued by locals. Both were seriously injured and have been admitted to the hospital. One of them is said to be in critical condition.

    According to police, the incident occurred in the Surpur police station area near Devpur in Surpur taluk.

    Fire broke out after collision
    According to preliminary information, the car was travelling from Yadgir to Raichur when it collided head-on with a private bus travelling from Bengaluru to Kalaburagi.

    The impact of the collision was so severe that both the car and the bus immediately caught fire. The car was completely engulfed in flames, and all six occupants died on the spot.

    Fire and emergency services teams arrived at the scene and attempted to extinguish the fire.

    Investigation underway, identification pending
    Meanwhile, Surpur police also arrived at the scene and began investigating the matter.

    Officials stated that the exact cause of the accident is not yet known. The deceased have not yet been identified. Both the car and the bus were engulfed in flames.

    A similar accident occurred in December 2025
    On December 25, 2025, a private sleeper bus traveling from Bengaluru to Gokarna caught fire after colliding with a truck near Hiriyur in Chitradurga district, Karnataka, killing several people.

    The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on National Highway 48, killing at least six passengers and injuring 28 others.

    The deceased included Bindu V., her daughter Grema, Manasa, Navya, and Rashmi Mahale, who were traveling from Bengaluru to Gokarna. The truck driver, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, also died in the accident.
