Kisan Mazdoor Morcha to observe Martyrdom Day in 18 districts, tribute to Shubkaran Singh

The Kisan Mazdoor Morcha will celebrate Martyrdom Day today in 18 districts of Punjab. Tributes will be paid to Shubkaran Singh, a young man who lost his life during the agitation at the Khanauri border on February 21, 2024.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated that Shubkaran Singh was shot dead at the Khanauri border two years ago during the Delhi march. In his memory, events will be held in Punjab, as well as in Rajasthan, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal (Puducherry), Jammu and Kashmir, and Haryana.

In Punjab, events are scheduled in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Moga, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda, Sangrur, Patiala, Faridkot, Mohali, Nawanshahr, and Malerkotla.

The Morcha will protest the India-US trade deal, the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, the Seed Bill, and the four labor codes implemented by amending labor laws. It will also raise its voice against attempts to abolish MNREGA. Pandher alleged that during the second agitation, farmers were stopped and repressed at the Haryana border. He stated that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not be allowed to go in vain and called for preparations for larger movements to come.
