Kisan Mazdoor Morcha warns of Rail Blockade from Dec 20; two-day protest outside DC offices on Dec 18–19

Kisan Mazdoor Morcha has again warned of taking steps like blocking trains for its demands. In a meeting of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) Punjab chapter held at Kisan Bhawan in Chandigarh on Friday, it was decided to intensify the agitation against the state government. It was decided in the meeting that a two-day peaceful protest will be held outside all the Deputy Commissioner offices of Punjab on December 18 and 19.

The leaders warned that if the government does not negotiate on the demands of the farmers, then a rail stop agitation will be started in Amritsar, Ferozepur, Sangrur and Bathinda from December 20. The leaders said that the demand letter was submitted to the government on December 1, so if the government wants, it can stop the conflict by negotiating in advance.

In the meeting, KMM leader Sarwan Singh Pandher accused the Punjab government of ignoring the problems of the farmers. He said that the government’s silence on the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 is creating resentment among the farmers. They reminded the ruling party that they came to power based on promises made to the farmers, but today the farmers are the most troubled. KMM condemned the lathi charge on the farmers in the Tibi area of ​​Rajasthan.

In the meeting, KMM discussed its main demands, including compensation of Rs 3 crore 77 lakh 48 thousand for the damage and theft on the Shambhu border, withdrawal of fines and cases imposed on the farmers who burnt stubble, immediate relief to the flood-affected farmers, stopping the One Nation-One Registry process and opposition to the installation of smart meters. The leaders said that the central government is continuously bringing new laws without consulting the farmers, which is a betrayal of trust with the farmers.
