Karan Johar Announces Final Season of Koffee With Karan, Show to Stream From October 14

Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced the final season of his popular celebrity talk show Koffee With Karan, bringing the long-running programme to an end with an emotional message reflecting on its journey, controversies and the love it has received from audiences.

Since its debut in 2004, the show has brought together some of India’s biggest stars and featured conversations around relationships, fame, ambition and celebrity life.

Over the years, Koffee With Karan has generated headlines, memes, debates and memorable moments for Bollywood fans. Johar has now decided to bring the show to a close with its upcoming season.

Karan Johar Recalls How Koffee With Karan Began

In the announcement video, Johar recalled telling his father in June 2004 that he wanted to host a talk show featuring two celebrities having an informal and candid conversation.

Johar said his father questioned who would pay him to sit and chat with his friends. He also recalled that his father passed away on June 26, 2004, during the same month.

Johar said he shot the first episode of the show on August 16, 2004. Looking back at the show’s journey, he said that after eight seasons and 161 episodes, a lot had happened on the show.

He recalled having guests who were lovers, friends and families, including people whose relationships later changed. He also referred to the controversies and debates surrounding the show, including discussions around nepotism and the speculation that became associated with the programme.

‘This Will Be My Very Last Season’

Johar became emotional while announcing the conclusion of the show and said he had reached a point where he realised that all good things eventually come to an end.

“But whatever it was, I know the show gave me so much,” Johar said. He added that he was making the announcement with a “heavy heart” and confirmed that the upcoming season would be his final season of Koffee With Karan.

Johar also acknowledged that the announcement could lead to trolling, comments and social media posts, but said he continued to recognise the affection audiences have for the show.

He invited viewers to join him for the final season and have “one last cup of coffee” with him.

The final season of Koffee With Karan is set to stream from October 14 on JioHotstar.

Previous seasons of the show have featured several major Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Emraan Hashmi and Priyanka Chopra, among others.

The upcoming season will mark the conclusion of the celebrity chat show’s journey that began more than two decades ago.
