Kolkata Police Bans Victory Celebrations in Kolkata on Counting Day

Kolkata: Kolkata Police has banned victory celebrations on Monday, the day of counting for the West Bengal Assembly elections. According to officials, this decision has been taken to maintain peace and law and order in the city.

Restrictions to Maintain Peace
This ban applies to all political parties without exception. According to the notification, no victory processions, rallies, or public celebrations will be held on May 4th.

The notification states that the counting process is expected to continue throughout the day, and this step has been taken to maintain peace and order in the city.

Processions can only be taken out with permission
The police have clarified that victory processions can only be taken out on or after May 5th, and that too after obtaining prior permission from the respective police station in-charge.

“Even if permission is granted, all processions must strictly adhere to the established rules and conditions. Legal action will be taken for any violation,” the notification states.

Strict Compliance Instructions
Officers in charge of all police stations under the Kolkata Police have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with this order.

Counting Continues, Trends Emerge
As of 2 pm, trends show the BJP leading in 193 seats, while the Trinamool Congress is leading in 95 seats. Counting is ongoing, and final results are expected by evening.
