Five killed, two injured in pickup truck accident in Kotkhai, Shimla

Shimla: A pickup truck met with an accident this morning in Kotkhai in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. 5 people died in this accident, while two pickup passengers are seriously injured. The injured have been referred to IGMC Shimla. The police have taken the bodies of the deceased into custody and started further action.

According to the information, there were a total of 7 people including the driver in the pickup number HP-63-3897. The driver was a local while the other 6 were labourers of Nepali origin. All were carrying crates for transporting apples.

During this, their pickup went out of control near Ramganer Ki Khola Kanchi of Kotkhai and fell on another road about 60 meters below the road. In this, 4 people died on the spot, while the fifth person died on the way while being taken to IGMC Shimla.

SHO Kotkhai Baldev Singh said that the pickup was being driven by Joginder Singh son of Balak Ram resident of Khola. Joginder Singh died on the spot. Apart from the driver, four Nepalis also died in the accident. They are still being identified.

He said that the postmortem of the deceased is going on in Kotkhai, while the postmortem of the fifth deceased will be done in IGMC Shimla. After this, the bodies will be handed over to the relatives.
