KPSC Recruitment Scam: Suspended Chairman Shivashankarappa Gets 3rd CID Notice, Arrest Likely

Bengaluru: Suspended Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Chairman Sahukar Shivashankarappa has received a third notice from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the alleged KPSC recruitment scam. Police said he has not appeared for questioning despite repeated summons, raising the possibility of his arrest.

Shivashankarappa had earlier appeared before the CID twice for questioning. However, he has reportedly not responded to the latest notice.

Anticipatory Bail Plea Rejected

The development comes after the Karnataka High Court rejected Shivashankarappa’s anticipatory bail plea, increasing the possibility of his arrest in the recruitment irregularities case.

CID officials have also been conducting searches at his residence in Bengaluru’s Dollars Colony since Monday evening as part of the ongoing investigation.

27-Acre Land Deal Under CID Scanner

Shivashankarappa is also facing allegations related to a 27-acre land parcel in Yadgir district.

Family members of Basamma, the original owner of the land, have alleged that forged documents were used to show Shivashankarappa’s son-in-law, Shankaragowda, as Basamma’s son. The land in Survey Nos. 242 and 245 in Anabi village, Shahapur taluk, was allegedly transferred to Shankaragowda through a gift deed and later transferred to Shivashankarappa.

The allegations are being examined amid the wider CID probe.

Political Row Escalates

The KPSC recruitment case has also triggered a political confrontation in Karnataka. The state government has questioned the BJP over Shivashankarappa’s appointment as KPSC Chairman during the previous BJP tenure.

The BJP, meanwhile, has hit back, claiming that another leader from the state government could face action.

The CID is continuing its investigation into the alleged recruitment irregularities and the role of other individuals in the case.
