    A laborer died in a mudslide in Aligarh, buried in a 14-foot-deep pit

    Aligarh: A laborer working in a 14-foot-deep pit in Aligarh was buried under the mud. He was repairing a water pipeline when a large mound of soil suddenly fell on him. His colleagues removed the soil with the help of a JCB and took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

    A video of the entire incident has also surfaced, showing the mound of soil collapsing.

    Brother’s allegation: JE forced him into the pit.

    The deceased, Mahendra (32), was a resident of Jawan, Aligarh, and was living in a rented room with his family. He is survived by his wife, a 16-year-old son, and an 11-year-old daughter.

    Mahendra’s elder brother, Rajkumar, alleged that the soil in the pit was already cracking. They pleaded with JE Narendra Singh to stop the work, but he abused them and kicked Mahendra, forcing him into the pit.

    Rajkumar said that Mahendra and other workers had gone down into the pit to repair the pipeline at around 2 pm when the accident occurred.

    Family creates ruckus at hospital, demands action

    After removing the soil, Mahendra was taken to the district hospital, but doctors declared him dead. Following this, the family and local residents created a ruckus at the hospital.

    When the police were taking the body for a postmortem, the family members snatched the body and said they would not allow it to be taken away until action was taken against the JE. The situation later calmed down after assurances from police officers.

    Wife demands 50 lakh rupees compensation, investigation ordered

    Mahendra’s wife, Bharti, stated that her husband had gone to work at 6 am and received news of his death in the afternoon. She demanded strict action against the culprits and 50 lakh rupees in compensation.

    Municipal Commissioner Prem Prakash Meena said that a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the accident and will submit its report within three days. Financial assistance of β‚Ή5 lakh will be provided at the government level. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also taken cognizance of the incident and has issued instructions for assistance.
