8 Labourers Killed in MP After Pickup Collides With Truck While Avoiding Cattle

A tragic road accident occurred around 1 a.m. near Chimka village on the Bhind-Gwalior National Highway in Madhya Pradesh. The labourers were returning to their village in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, after completing paddy transplantation work in Gwalior.

Lost control while saving cattle

According to preliminary investigations, the pickup driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to save cattle stranded on the highway. The pickup went off the road and collided with an oncoming dumper truck.

8 laborers killed, 32 injured

Eight laborers were killed in the accident. Five of them died on the spot, while three succumbed to their injuries while being taken to the hospital. Approximately 32 other laborers were injured in the accident.

Police launched a rescue operation

Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene and, with the help of local residents, rescued the workers trapped in the vehicle. All the injured were taken to Gohad hospital, where they received first aid. The seriously injured were referred to Gwalior for further treatment.
