Ladowal Toll Plaza free for Commuters by Farmers, Read to know why

A massive protest is expected again today at the Ladowal Toll Plaza, one of the most expensive toll plazas in Punjab. Various farmer groups have called for a gathering here at 12 noon today. The farmers have stated that until their demands are met, they will make this toll completely tax-free for the general public.

Farmers are adamant on these key demands

Farmers are protesting not only on local issues but also on several serious issues concerning the central and state governments. Farmers are adamant on enacting a firm law on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. They demand justice and the strictest legal action against the culprits in cases of desecration of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. They demand the cancellation of FIRs filed against farmers during the ongoing protest at the Shambhu border. They demand the withdrawal of the increased Ladowal toll prices and relief for residents.

The general public will receive significant relief.

Protest leaders say the government is not listening to the farmers’ voices, and therefore, they will now inflict financial damage. The farmers have clarified that they will not harass the public, but will allow vehicles to pass through the area without paying toll tax. While this will save money for travelers, maintaining law and order will be a major challenge for the administration.

Our aim is not to stop passersby but to awaken the sleeping government. The protest will continue until the Shambhu Border permits are rescinded and a concrete decision is made on the MSP.

Police and administration on alert

A heavy police force has been deployed at the Ladowal toll plaza in anticipation of the protest scheduled for 12 noon. Senior administration officials are also monitoring the situation to prevent it from escalating.
