Ladowal Toll Plaza Shooting: SUV Men Open Fire After Being Asked for VIP ID

Ludhiana: The shooting incident took place at Punjab’s most expensive toll plaza, Ladowal, at around 10:30 pm on Saturday night. People in an SUV tried to exit the VIP lane without paying the toll. When they were stopped, an argument escalated and the youths in the car opened fire on the toll officials.

Fortunately, no toll official was injured. Hearing the gunshots, other officials reached the spot, after which the attackers fled with the car. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.

The attackers got angry when they asked for VIP cards; there were 7-8 people in the car.

Toll official Kuljit Singh said that an SUV was coming from Ludhiana towards Phillaur through the VIP lane. There were seven-eight people in the car. He claimed to be the chairman of a department and insisted on leaving without paying the toll.

He got angry when the officials asked for VIP cards. The people who came with them tried to force open the gate, and when they were stopped, they started a fight.

The attackers fired 4-5 rounds.

As the fight escalated, the youths in the car fired 4-5 rounds. The employees managed to escape and fled the scene.

According to Kuljit Singh, “We were shot at directly. We somehow managed to escape. Now the employees are afraid for their safety.”

There is constant vehicular traffic on the highway, so the incident could have turned into a major accident.

After the shooting, the accused fled towards the South City Bridge.

As soon as other employees got information about the incident, they tried to catch the attackers, but the accused immediately fled towards the South City Bridge in the car.

The employees immediately filed a complaint at the Ladowal police station.

Police are working on identification through CCTV footage

A police team reached the spot and started investigation.

The CCTV footage shows the movements of the car and the attackers. Police are now working on identifying the culprits based on the footage.

Officials say the attackers will be arrested soon.
