Land Pooling Policy Protest: Farmers to hold Bike Rally across Punjab today

A bike rally will be taken out by farmers in Punjab today regarding the land pooling policy started by the government in Punjab. Manjit S Rai, President of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Doaba) and Sarwan S. Pandher, General Secretary of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti, had announced this in a press conference held yesterday.

The farmers had announced that bike rallies will be taken out across Punjab on August 11. Also, a huge rally will be held in Kukkad village of Jalandhar Cantonment on August 20.

The government has planned to start the Urban Estate Phase-3 project by acquiring 1,000 acres of land in Kukkad village and surrounding areas, which the farmers are opposing. Farmers say that if the government does not withdraw the policy, they will be forced to protest more strictly in the coming days.

Under the land pooling policy, which has become a topic of discussion in Punjab for the last few days, the government is preparing to acquire thousands of acres of land from farmers. After the completion of the project, a part of that land is to be developed and given to the farmers. While the rest of the land is sold or used by the government or a development authority. The opposition is very angry about this and is protesting.
