Dewas: In a heartbreaking incident in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, four family members, including two children, lost their lives in a devastating house fire early Saturday morning. The tragedy occurred in Nayapura, about 45 kilometers from Indore.
According to the police, the fire broke out on the ground floor of a two-story building that housed a dairy shop. Dewas Superintendent of Police Puneet Gahlot stated that initial investigations suggest a short circuit ignited the fire, which rapidly spread, trapping the family on the upper floor.
Fire-fighting teams from the Dewas Municipal Corporation and local police responded quickly, but the flames escalated too fast for the family to escape. The victims have been identified as Dinesh (35), his wife Gayatri (30), and their two children, Ishika (10) and Chirag (7), who were all asleep at the time of the incident.
Further inquiries indicated that flammable materials stored in the building may have intensified the fire, making it uncontrollable. Gahlot mentioned that the precise cause of the fire is still under investigation, with a forensic science laboratory (FSL) report expected to provide more insights.
Authorities are working with the Dewas district administration and municipal officials to uncover the circumstances that led to this tragedy. Gahlot emphasized the seriousness of the situation and assured that measures would be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. Earlier this year, a firecracker factory explosion in Harda district resulted in the deaths of 11 people and injuries to over 100 others.
