As a result of this mourning period, all government events scheduled for Friday have been canceled. The National Flag will be flown at half-mast across India on government buildings, and there will be no official entertainment during this period.

Earlier on Friday, Dr. Singh’s body was transported from AIIMS, New Delhi, to his home. He had been admitted to the hospital on Thursday evening after losing consciousness at home and could not be revived despite medical efforts, as confirmed by the hospital.

Dr. Singh, who served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, played a crucial role in India’s economic liberalization. He is survived by his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their three daughters.
