Jalandhar: A ‘Branded Summer Garments Sale’ held at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall in Jalandhar has sparked controversy after locals claimed to have been deceived by the organisers. The event, which promised discounted branded summer clothes, turned into a suspected scam when customers found the garments on sale to be of poor quality and not from well-known brands as advertised.
On the opening day of the sale, the hall was largely empty, with few customers showing interest, Those who did visit the sale expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the clothes appeared to be substandard and not from any reputable brands. Some even claimed that the clothes were of such poor quality that they seemed to have been gathered from random stalls rather than from a factory or a branded company.
Shoppers reported that garments, which they believed were being sold at much higher prices, were often only worth a fraction of the asking price. Many customers shared their disappointment, highlighting that clothes priced at just Rs. 50 were being sold at multiples of their original cost, under the false pretense of bring branded.
The event, which is scheduled to last for five days, has raised concerns, with locals residents warning each other about the alleged fraudulent activity.
As the controversy continues to unfold, local authorities are being called to investigate the organizers of the event to prevent further exploitation of unsuspecting customers.
