Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to the notable figures India lost in 2024 through a heartfelt social media post. The country mourned several icons in the latter part of the year, including entrepreneur Ratan Tata, tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, and acclaimed filmmaker Shyam Benegal, all of whom significantly contributed to India’s development in their fields.
Bachchan shared a touching cartoon by artist Satish Acharya on his Instagram, depicting the four legends in heaven, each engaging in their respective passions: Zakir Hussain playing the tabla, Shyam Benegal with a camera, Ratan Tata feeding dogs, and Dr. Singh continuing his work for the nation. In his post, he wrote, “The picture says it all,” and added a poignant caption: “A Parsi, a Muslim, a Sikh, and a Hindu passed away in 2024, and the entire nation mourned them, remembering them only as Indians.”
Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26 in Delhi at the age of 92 due to complications from age-related illnesses. Filmmaker Shyam Benegal died just a few days earlier, on December 23, at the age of 90 from chronic kidney disease. Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group, passed away on October 10 at 86, and tabla legend Zakir Hussain died at the age of 73.
On the professional front, Amitabh recently starred in “Vettaiyan” alongside Rajinikanth, and he is set to appear in Deepika Padukone’s upcoming film, “The Intern.”
