Farmers of Khanna locks the power grid in Punjab

They were angry over not getting regular electricity and sloganeering against the Punjab government.

Khanna: Angry farmers locked the power grid in Doraha of Khanna for not getting 8 hours of electricity for farming. Sloganeering was done against the Punjab government. CM Bhagwant Mann’s claims were called hollow. A warning was given to come on the streets if the electricity problem is not solved.

Farmer leaders Sukhbir Singh and Gurjeet Singh said that farmers are not getting electricity from Khaira and Rampur feeders in the Doraha area. There is hardly 4 hours of supply. If there is any fault, there is no recovery. They had submitted a memorandum 4 days ago. But when no action was taken and the problem was not solved, they locked the grid. Farmers from villages like Katana Sahib, Rampur, Mehdooda, Khaira, etc. have come with them.

PSPL SDO, who reached the spot, said that power cuts are being imposed as per the orders received from Patiala. Instead of 8 hours, electricity is being supplied for 6 hours. The Patiala headquarters has been informed about the farmers’ anger. A letter will be written in this regard, and a WhatsApp message will also be sent. It is hoped that the problem will be solved soon.
