Mumbai: Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, currently on a break from acting, has shown her support for the book In Her Defence: Ten Landmark Judgments on Women in the Armed Forces, written by Navdeep Singh and Shivani Dasmahapatra.
On Thursday, she shared a post from the book’s publishers on her Instagram Stories, praising the book as “a tribute to the strength of women in the Armed Forces.” She expressed her admiration for the authors, saying, “Kudos to @navdeepsinghindia & @lenswandererart for this incredible work.”
Earlier, Anushka celebrated cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement from international cricket. She shared a video from the BCCI on her Instagram Stories, commenting, “A lasting legacy.” Ashwin is recognized as one of the greatest spinners in cricket history and was a key player in India’s 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy victories.
Currently, Anushka is in Sydney with her husband, cricket star Virat Kohli, as the Indian team prepares to face the dominant Australian squad in their ongoing series. Team India won the first match of the Border–Gavaskar Trophy under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy but struggled in subsequent matches after Rohit Sharma took over. Sharma, who led India to its World Cup victory in June 2024, has faced challenges with an inconsistent batting lineup under pressure from the Australians.
To qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC), India must win the final test to equalize the series, while also hoping for Australia to lose to Sri Lanka in their upcoming series.
