Appointment of CPS: Next hearing in Himachal HC to be held on May 8, 9

He said that the state government thinks that the appointment of Chief Parliamentary Secretaries has been done as per the law.

Shimla: The hearing on the matter of appointment of Chief Parliamentary Secretaries which began on Monday has now been listed for May 8 and 9 by the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

This double bench of Justice Vivek Thakur and Justice Bipin Chandra Negi listed the matter for May 8 and 9, 2024. The hearing in this case continued for three hours on Wednesday.

Hearing in this case was held for two consecutive days on Monday and Tuesday and continued till Wednesday.



Anoop Kumar Ratna, Advocate General of Himachal Pradesh High Court had sought time to the state government to represent the case. The state government wants senior legal constitutional experts in the matter. After this request of the Advocate General, the court has given the next date.
Advocate General Ratna said that the state government wants to involve two senior lawyers as constitutional experts in this matter. These two constitutional experts will represent the court in this matter.

He said that the state government thinks that the appointment of Chief Parliamentary Secretaries has been done as per the law.

He said the key petitioner Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Satpal Singh Satti himself had held the post of Chief Parliamentary Secretary in the then Dhumal-led BJP government. In such a situation, now he is challenging this very law.

The Advocate General also said that in this whole matter, the membership of Chief Parliamentary Secretaries as MLAs cannot be disqualified, because the Election Commission has already given clarity in an old case.
