New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has reached out to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat with a letter addressing concerns about the BJP’s recent political actions. In his letter, Kejriwal raises several questions, including whether the RSS endorses the BJP’s recent wrongdoings, such as the alleged distribution of money for votes and the manipulation of voter lists, particularly targeting Dalit and Purvanchali voters. He expresses concern that these actions threaten the integrity of democracy.
Kejriwal has accused the BJP of engaging in “Operation Lotus” in his constituency, claiming that the party has attempted to delete thousands of voters from the rolls while adding new ones. He highlighted specific instances in the Shahdara and New Delhi constituencies, where he alleges significant voter deletions and additions, suggesting that such manipulation undermines the electoral process.
The BJP has countered these allegations by accusing the AAP of including illegal voters, such as Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, in the electoral rolls. BJP spokesperson Manjinder Singh Sirsa argued that the AAP is distressed over the removal of these votes, which he claims were fraudulently registered.
This letter is not Kejriwal’s first correspondence with the RSS chief; he previously wrote to Bhagwat in September 2024 with similar inquiries. In that earlier letter, he expressed concerns about the direction of the BJP-led government and questioned the age limit for retirement applied to BJP leaders, asking if it would also apply to Prime Minister Modi when he turns 75. He also raised issues regarding the alleged misuse of central agencies to destabilize opposition governments and sought Bhagwat’s views on statements made by BJP President J.P. Nadda regarding the party’s independence from the RSS.
Kejriwal emphasized that the RSS, as the BJP’s foundational organization, has a responsibility to guide the party in the right direction.
