Sydney: Two teenagers have been arrested in Sydney following a series of incidents involving a shooting, a car fire, and a crash.
Authorities in New South Wales reported that officers responded to gunfire at a barbershop in Mount Druitt, located about 40 kilometers west of central Sydney, around 2:20 a.m. local time on Thursday. Upon their arrival, they discovered multiple bullet holes in the shop’s window.
The shooting occurred shortly after police apprehended two 17-year-olds at the scene of a crashed vehicle in a nearby suburb. The vehicle, identified as stolen, had failed to stop for police, leading to a pursuit that ended in the crash. Both teens were uninjured and taken into custody at the scene.
During a search of the vehicle, police recovered two firearms, a jerry can filled with petrol, and two balaclavas, according to NSW Police.
Emergency services received reports of a car fire around 2:10 a.m. Following preliminary investigations, authorities believe that all three incidents are connected, as reported by Australia’s 9News network. Crime scenes have been established at the locations of the shooting and the car fire, and the investigation is ongoing.
