Let us tell you that in the first election of Sonipat Municipal Corporation held in the year 2020, Nikhil Madan contested the mayoral election on a Congress ticket. In the election, he defeated BJP’s Lalit Batra by 13817 votes. He is the first mayor of Sonipat. Now he will become a BJP member on Thursday, July 11.
Will join BJP in Delhi tomorrow
It has been learned that Nikhil Madan will join BJP on Thursday with his supporters in the presence of many big BJP leaders at Haryana Bhawan in Delhi. He is preparing to go to Delhi with a huge entourage. Although Nikhil Madan has not yet confirmed joining the BJP, his close ones are busy preparing.
BJP has played a master stroke in Sonipat by bringing Nikhil Madan into its fold just before the assembly elections. It is being told that Mayor Nikhil Madan was feeling uncomfortable in the Congress these days.
There were reports of a rift between Sonipat’s current MLA Surendra Panwar and Nikhil Madan for some time. Recently, MLA Surendra Panwar held a press conference regarding the corruption in the Municipal Corporation. Nikhil Madan did not come on stage with him.
Has been close to Deepender Hooda
Nikhil Madan has been close to former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and MP Deepender Singh Hooda. Whenever both father and son used to come to Sonipat, Nikhil used to be the first to welcome them. He was an active member of Team Deepender. It was because of Bhupendra Hooda that he got the Congress ticket in the mayoral elections. He got the direct benefit of the Hooda family’s vote bank in the elections.
