Patna: The Bihar government has officially transferred the registry of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium to the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) on a 30-year lease. This significant development aims to facilitate the hosting of international cricket matches in Patna and to create a modern cricket facility for the state’s players.

In a related move, the government has waived the land registry fee, which was estimated at around Rs 37 crore. The key officials who signed the registry documents included Sports Department Director Mahendra Kumar representing the government and BCA President Rakesh Tiwari on behalf of the association. The signing ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Sports Department Deputy Director Sanjay Kumar and Patna District Sports Officer Om Prakash.

Following this milestone, Rakesh Tiwari announced that the BCA would unveil the date for the foundation-laying ceremony of the stadium once the Kharmas period ends in the new year, with construction expected to start promptly.

Thanking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha for their support, Tiwari stated, “The Bihar government has fulfilled its responsibility. Now, it’s our turn to act. The BCA is committed to fast-tracking the construction of a world-class stadium for the people of Bihar, which will be ready in two to three years, allowing them to enjoy international matches.”

It’s important to note that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on November 6 between the Bihar government and the BCA for the stadium transfer. The new Moin-ul-Haq Stadium is set to be developed into an international-standard venue and sports complex.

Plans for the stadium include seating for 40,000 spectators, 76 corporate boxes, and facilities for 250 VIPs. Furthermore, the sports complex will feature amenities such as a badminton court, volleyball court, swimming pool, a five-star hotel, a fully-equipped players’ hostel, restaurants, a clubhouse, and other modern facilities.
