Pakistan: Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on Wednesday claimed responsibility for seizing complete control of the Jaffar Express, holding over 200 hostages, including intelligence officers, police, and military personnel.
In a statement issued dated March 12, 2025, BLA stated that the Pakistani government has been given a 48-hour ultimatum for a prisoner exchange, which now has only 24 hours left.
The statement also reads that, “if this attitude persists then with every passing hour after the ultimatum expires, five hostages will be punished according to the decision of Bloachistan National court.”
BLA alleges that the captured personnel were involved in state terrorism, enforced disappearances, and the exploitation of Balochistan’s resources. The group warns that if Pakistan fails to negotiate, the hostages will be tried in a “Baloch National Court” for alleged war crimes.
A spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, emphasized that Pakistan’s delay tactics will not prevent severe consequences, including the execution of five hostages every hour after the deadline.
The Pakistani government has not yet issued an official response. The situation has escalated tensions in Balochistan, raising serious security concerns.
