New Delhi: Delhi Metro’s Blue Line faced significant disruptions on Thursday due to cable theft between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar stations, causing delays for commuters.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) notified passengers via posts on X, advising them to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
“There is a delay in services on the Blue Line due to cable theft between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar. We regret the inconvenience,” the DMRC stated.
In a follow-up update, the DMRC noted that the issue would only be resolved after the metro’s operational hours at night.
“The cable theft issue on the Blue Line between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar will be addressed after service ends for the day,” the post read.
“During the day, trains will operate at reduced speeds in the affected area, leading to further delays,” it added.
The corporation urged commuters to account for these delays, indicating that travel times would be longer.
The Blue Line is a vital corridor of the Delhi Metro, linking Dwarka in the west to Noida and Vaishali in the east (Uttar Pradesh), and serves key locations like Rajiv Chowk, Yamuna Bank, Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Noida Sector 16, and Noida Sector 18, which are home to numerous offices.
With the disruptions occurring during peak morning hours, many passengers faced challenges, especially those traveling to work along the Blue Line.
Restoration of normal services is anticipated to start after the metro closes for the day, with repairs planned for non-operational hours.
